Hands Off! March to Protect Democracy

3:00 PM – 5:00 PM @ Forsyth Park

Join us at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 5th at Forsyth Park on the East Lawn near the Amphitheater. We’re gathering to join the nationwide 50501 movement: 50 States, 50 Protests, 1 Day. The 50501 mission is to uphold the Constitution and end executive overreach. This specific protest is to:

REMOVE corrupt politicians from office
REVERSE the damage
RECLAIM our democracy

This event is hosted by Coastal Georgia for Democracy, Savannah’s Indivisible group. Coastal Georgia for Democracy is committed to protecting democracy and promoting genuine equity and inclusion through progressive advocacy. We aim to defend and protect against attacks on constitutionally guaranteed freedoms, including safe and fair elections and the voting rights of citizens. (Please join us on Facebook or Bluesky as our website is currently under construction.)

The rally will start at 3 p.m. with a gathering and quick instructions. Then we will march up Bull Street to City Hall.

Make signs 🪧 & please bring a water bottle.

We will request that all participants keep to a single file line while marching to City Hall so that pedestrian walkways are not impeded. This will also help ensure that your signs can be read by others.

Once we get to City Hall, we will line up, again in single file, and stretch out the length of Bay Street for 15 minutes. At the end, we will then convene in the green space next to City Hall for a few final words.

A core principle behind this event is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.

Please share the event information so we can get the word out there for this important date!
