SAVANNAH, GA – March 24, 2025 – The citizens of Georgia’s District 01 have been proactively asking Congressional Rep. Earl “Buddy” Carter for a town hall meeting in the wake of the incoming administration’s massive cuts to vital services, the firing of thousands of Federal workers, cuts to Veterans’s services, and the announced closure of five of Georgia’s 34 Social Security offices. Offices in Brunswick, Gainesville, Columbus, Vidalia, and Thomasville will close, according to the DOGE website.
On Monday, April 14, Coastal Georgia for Democracy will host an empty seat town hall at the Georgia Coastal Center, 305 Fahm Street, Savannah. Rep. Carter has been invited as well as other candidates and local dignitaries. Rep. Carter declined our invitation.
Confirmed participants are Denise R. Grabowski, Board Member, VP, Board of Education; Patty Hewitt, prospective Congressional candidate; Randy Zurcher, prospective Congressional candidate; and Aaron “Adot” Whitely, County Commission (District 6).
Registered attendees will be invited to submit questions for panelists in advance. Topics on the agenda include funding for Georgia, DOGE, international policy, immigration and due process guarantees, healthcare and reproductive rights, and LGBTQ+ rights.
